Kapu’s patriarchy and former minister Mudragada Padmanabam finally commenced his Padayatra on Sunday which was supposed to start on July26 seeking reservation for Kapus. A large number of Kapu leaders participated along with him only to be stopped by the police at Ravulapalem which led to a tense situation with heated exchanges.
Mudragada has long ago ruled out the possibility of giving up on the proposed Padayatra. On the 33rd day, he attempted to launch his Padayatra from his home in Kirlampudi. As the routine goes, police prevented him and he went back home only to escape the clutches police. Mudragada managed to escape the grip of the police who were on their toes to prevent him from taking up the walkathon.
Mudragada alleged that Chandrababu Naidu is trying to provoke members of different castes. He asked if “Chandrababu’s grandson can aspire to become chief minister, what wrong is he doing by taking up a Padayatra seeking Kapu reservation?”
He questioned the police “why I should not walk on the road?” After repeated interruption by police frustrated Mudragada, said he should be jailed if he were a criminal but not be barred for no reasons.
Nonetheless even after a month, Mudragada by embarking the Padayatra made it clear that he is not going to withdraw the agitation until Kapus get BC status.
