Group I examinations began smoothly without any protests or disturbances on Monday afternoon. Total 31,383 candidates have been shortlisted for the Group I Mains examinations to be held from Oct 21 to 27 by Telangana Public Service Commission ( TGPSC).
In the run up to the Group I examinations, a section of students held agitations demanding rescheduling of the examinations. With Opposition parties BRS and BJP throwing their weight behind protesting students and clashes between Group I aspirants and police, war-like situation prevailed in Ashoknagar area.
With the support of BRS working president, some Group I aspirants even approached Supreme Court, requesting rescheduling of the examinations. As a result widespread confusion prevailed over the conduct of Group I examinations.
