TDP leaders are said to be in discontent with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and accusing him of neglecting the development of their region. Though many projects were announced for the development of backward districts like Anantapur and Kurnool, they felt hardly any project moving forward. They are alleging that most of the funds and projects are being focused in Kirhsna-Guntur districts, besides Visakhapatnam.
Few days ago, Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy had openly expressed his displeasure at the lobbies of Telangana assembly stating that their region losing a lot by not merging with Telangana. “We are at the mercy of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. If we are part of Telangana we could have fought with K Chandrasekhar Rao raising the bogey of neglecting our districts”, he added.
After him, Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy also joined him publicly expressing his anguish over neglecting the region. “Chandrababu Naidu has been stating that 1000 MW solar project is coming in Kurnool district. When it will come?”, he wondered.
Referring to N T Rama Rao’s name, who showed great interest on Rayalaseema’s development, he indirectly snubbed Naidu. “I was very close to NTR. I was irrigation minister for four years in his cabinet. He was very frank. He performs more than our imagination”, he added.
Stating that people are questioning them when the industries promised by TDP government would be materialised, he said “once again I will ask Chief Minister for the development of Kurnool district”.
Though some investors are coming forward to set up industries in the district, the revenue minister deplored that Chief Minister is not coming at all for laying foundations. “It seems he is fearing what people may ask?” he added.
It seems, Chandrababu Naidu is hesitating to take any initiative on the development of Rayalaseema as that would benefit the opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who is having strong base.
