The Telugu Desam government, which is wooing the Kapus desperately from being poached by other political parties, today issued guidelines to extend financial assistance to ” serve the marginalized AP State Kapu Community (Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari) members in AP for their overall development. The financial assistance will be given to encourage poor Kapu (Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari) Community members to develop as entrepreneurs.
There has been a competition between BJP and TDP in wooing the Kapu community after its efforts to emerge a political force fizzled out. Both Chiranjeevi, Prajarajyam and Jana Sena proved ineffective political organizations, these parties are vying with each other to make their parties as natural habitation for the Kapus. On the other side, Mudragada Padmanabham, a known Kapu leader, wants BC status to the Kapus and he gave a call for an agitation. Amid this din government today released the guidelines for the financial assitance.
Eligibility:
• The applicant should belong to Kapu Community (Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari) and reside in Andhra Pradesh.
• Annual Income of the applicant should not be more than Rs.60,000/- in Rural Areas and Rs.75,000/- in Urban Areas.
• Should not have availed himself/ herself of any amount under any other Government scheme for the same purpose.
The recently set up Andhra Pradesh Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation Limited will implement the scheme of “Economic Assistance scheme for economically poor Kapu (Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari) community in the State”.
Under the scheme beneficiaries will be offered a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to take up various works. Out of the Rs 2 lakh financial assistance, 50 per cent would be subsidy and the remaining 50 per cent would be bank loan.
The assistance is available for sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry and minor irrigation along with self-employment schemes. Some time back the State government had allotted an amount of Rs 100 crore for the financial year 2015-16 and released an amount of Rs 50 crore for first and second quarters of current year 2015-16.
