A Guntur-born IIT girl student went missing from her hostel in Chennai , leaving behind a note that she wants to attain sainthood and heading to the Himalayas to explore spirituality.
The girl Vedantam LPratyusha is pursuing her second year M.S in Engineering Design in IIT Madras and stays in the single occupant wing of the hostel Sabarmati in room number 132. This isolation is said to be the reason for delayed detection of the disappearance, She had not been seen since Sunday morning. According to police some students had complained about her disappearance later in the day which compelled the hostel warden to broke-open the room. The warden reportedly found two letters- a two page English letter and the a three-page Telugu note.
Police said that her letters mentioned that she was interested in adventures and wanted to do research on spirituality.
Though Prathyusha’s social media pages indicate her deep interest in spiritual texts like Ramayanam, Mahabharatham, Bhagvad Gita etc, there have been no recent posts on the subject.
The IIT authorities said that she had checked out of the campus by signing in the register early in the morning on January 17. Her friends had tried calling her on her mobile. Later, when failed to contact her, they reached out to her parents who said she hadn’t come home. At the request from Pratyusha’s parents IIT Director Bhaskar Ramamurthi lodged a complaint with Kotturpuram police the same night. The police are trying to trace her.
