Director Praveen Sattaru wanted to make a cult film when he came up with Guntur Talkies. Based in Guntur, it was the story of a set of people who were extremely quirky and lived a life which is possible only in the movies. A comedy thriller, the film went on to garner lot of interest especially for the lead actress Rashmi Gautham for whom the film proved to be an important transition from Television to cinema.
We hear this sequel is set to go on floors in the first week of September and what’s more, the film will be a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. Apparently, the makers felt the first film had scope to impress audiences across the border as well and hence decided to take the film down to Tamil Nadu.
While the original cast is set to be mostly retained, with Rashmi Gautham, Mahesh Manjrekar and Shraddha Das amongst others reprising their roles, the new film will have an addition in the form of Aditi and Brahmanandam and other senior character artistes. An interesting premise is also being worked on so that the film has a hangover of Guntur Talkies but is still fresh. More details are awaited.
