Ahead of the Telangana assembly’s winter session, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao warned that he would expose the true colours of Congress leaders in the floor of the house.
Inaugurating lift irrigation at Singuru project at Pulkal mandal in Sangareddy district, he accuses that Congress leaders are trying to misguide the public, when his government has been making hercules attempts to construct irrigation projects on war-foot so that to prevent farmer suicides and migrations.
Refuting Congress leaders’ conspiracies, the minister recalled that they had filed writ petitions in the High Court by getting finger prints of dead people. “I will show complete evidences in the Assembly”, he added. He also recalled that a senior Congress leader, who had neglected the region while in power for eight years when tried to fill up tanks during election time bunds were damaged.
Strongly dismissing Congress leaders’ objection to Mallanna sagar reservoir, he wondered why they are coming on the way when the government is prepared to pay Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakh per acre as compensation for farmers, as against Rs 2 lakh provided by Congress government in Singuru project.
He deplored that when the government is moving ahead to make desert-look Telangana into a green field by taking up numerous irrigation project, Congress leaders are causing hurdles at every level.
Harish Rao said that by next year, the government would supply irrigation for about 48,000 acres of land in the district. He said that the government would ensure irrigation facilities to every acre of land. He said that the state government was providing quality power to the farmers for 9 hours and assured the farmers of the district need not worry for the ensuing cropping season.
