Haryana election results have given a shock to many pollsters and election strategists, as final results were completely different from pre-poll public mood and exit predictions. Telugu poll strategist Kiran Kondeti also ended up as one of the casualties in Haryana’s Assembly Kurukshetra.
Kiran Kondeti, the popular psephologist and poll strategist, who shot to fame with Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections predictions, ventured into North Indian territories, by working on Haryana Assembly elections.
Making his prediction over Haryana Assembly elections, Kiran Kondeti had forecast a humiliating defeat for ruling BJP. He was so confident of his survey that, he stressed saffron party will lose two out of three seats it would contest in the northern state. He even called BJP a sinking Titanic ship, stressing that PM Modi’s party will continue poor show in upcoming Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections.
Kiran Kondeti founder CEO of KK Surveys and Strategies, had made his prediction in the third week of September. There were still about two weeks to go for election, when he revealed his survey results.
With about 15 days to pass, there was enough scope for change in public mood and parties strategies. So, we cannot blame KK Surveys and Strategies in this matter. Public mood might have changed in the meantime.
But what’s surprising is, KK has got it wrong even in exit polls. This is bit amusing. When there was such clear inclination of public towards BJP, how KK got inclined towards Congress, is puzzling.
Whatever may the reasons, in these days of ‘results matter more than efforts,’ Kiran Kondeti’s prediction will be seen as gone wrong, hurting his image.
Thus, the complicated Haryana Assembly polls have given rude jolt to Kiran Kondeti, who has made a mark for himself as reliable poll strategist.
