YSRCP Mangalagiri MLA Alla RamaKrishna Reddy filed a petition against Advanced Telecommunications company and Government of Andhra Pradesh for unilaterally procuring and giving the rights of recording assembly sessions. The company is owned by ABN Andhra Jyothy MD Vemuri RadhaKrishna’s son Vemuri Aditya.
Rama Krishna through an RTI procured information regarding the recording rights. The RTI response stated that due to lack of time to call for tenders, upon Speaker Kodela Shiva Prasad Rao’s decision the rights were given to Aditya’s Advanced Telecom Company until 2018.
The YSRCP MLA in his petition stated that it is illegal to give away rights without calling the tenders. High Court which accepted the petition, issued notices to AP government and Aditya’s firm to file counter within two weeks.
YSRCP made several allegations related to the assembly sessions recording. They contended that the clippings of ruling party’s slip-ups are being hidden while the faults of opposition leaders are intentionally being released to public.
Now that the High Court has accepted the inquiry, hopefully full details regarding the contracts will be exposed.
