The AP High Court issued a notice to Deputy CM Pamula Pushpa Srivani to clarify and submit proofs on her ST caste status in the face of petitions by her rivals. She is facing allegations that she submitted false caste affidavit in order to contest in the ST reserved Kurupam assembly segment in Vizianagaram district in 2019 general election. She claimed herself to belong to Konda Dora caste while she actually belongs to Konda caste.
Congress candidate N. Simhachalam and N. Jayaraju, who suffered defeat in the hands of Srivani, petitioned the court on her false claims of caste. They asked the court for cancellation of her election since her actual Konda caste is not classified as ST. They submitted school records mentioning Srivani father’s Konda caste status. Following this, the court asked for an explanation from the Deputy CM.
Already, Tadikonda YCP MLA Undavalli Sridevi is facing an official enquiry by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on SC caste status. She was caught red-handed admitting to her converted Christian status on videos. The caste-based cases are causing embarrassment to the already crisis-hit Jagan Circar.
