Providing much relief to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Hyderabad High Court today struck down the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) notices intending to probe into his alleged role in famous `cash-for-vote’ scam.
Chandrababu Naidu approached the High Court challenging ACB court directives to conduct probe into his role in this case by filing quash petition. The court accepted his advocate’s argument that there is no need for probe against Chandrababu Naidu in this case.
Naidu had approached the High Court seeking the quashing of a re-investigation order by the ACB Principal Special Judge after YSR Congress Party MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy filed a petition seeking a thorough investigation into TDP president Chandrababu Naidu’s role in the cash for vote scam of Telangana where TDP MLAs caught on camera trying to purchase votes.
Chandrababu Naidu’s lawyer questions the local stand of the MLA for approaching the court. The High Court refused to take former Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar’s petition in this regard.
The ACB Court had been dealing with the case which rocked both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh since last year. The case relates to allegations that TDP leaders had tried to bribe the MLAs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to vote in favour of TDP backed candidate in the elections to the MLCs.
Telangana TDP leader Revanth Reddy and a couple of others were arrested and later released on bail in the case. The Chief Minister is in the thick of the controversy as a taped telephonic conversation allegedly shows Chandrababu Naidu interacting with nominated member Elvis Stephenson.
