In a shocking development, the combined High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana issued notices to 22 MLAs who changed the party after getting elected. Thanks to operation ‘Akarsh’ by AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, 22 MLAs have jumped into TDP, after winning in the 2014 AP Assembly elections as YSRCP candidates.
A PIL has been filed by former TDP MLA of Giddalur constituency, Prakasham district, Anna Venkat Rambabu. In his petition, the former MLA said, ’22 MLAs have changed the parties. After winning as YSRCP candidates, the joined TDP.
Amarnath Reddy, Bhuma Akhila Priya, Adinarayana Reddy, and S Krishna Ranga Rao are holding portfolios, and are part of AP State Cabinet. I request the honourable High Court to issue interim orders, to disqualify as both ministers and MLAs. A fine of Rs 500 should be imposed on each individual until the case is resolved’.
After hearing the arguments from the petitioner’s counsel, the High Court issued notices to the 22 MLAs who joined TDP, after winning as YSRCP candidates. Even AP Assembly Secretary and Judicial Secretary have been issued notice along with the 22 party defectors. The recent development took the AP CM by surprise.
The sufferings of TDP only got much worse with this incident.
