As expected, the TDP government gave top priority to welfare of farmers and poorer sections in its budget presented for 2019-`20 in the State Assembly. An innovative scheme called ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ was introduced with an allocation of Rs. 5,000 crore this time. The total budget estimates were put at Rs. 2,26,117.53 crore which is an 18.37 per cent increase from last year.
The revenue deficit is put at Rs. 32,390.68 crore. The other highlights and allocations of the budget are as follows:
Backward classes welfare – Rs. 8,242.64 crore
Old age and widow pensions – Rs. 10,401 crore
Agricultural marketing, cooperatives – Rs. 12,732.97 crore
Dairy, animal husbandry and fisheries- Rs 2,030.87 crore
Higher education – Rs. 3,171.63 crore
Secondary education – Rs. 3,171.63 crore
Electricity, infrastructure – Rs. 5,473.83 crore
Finance department – Rs. 51,841,69 crore
Civil supplies department – Rs. 3,763.42 crore
Medical, helath, family welfare – Rs. 10,032.15 crore
Minority welfare – Rs. 1,308.73 crore
Panchayat raj, rural development – Rs 35,182.61 crore
Employment guarantee – Rs. 1,000 crore.
