Hyderabad: Of late, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have been focusing on north Telangana. Although, Hyderabad and the GHMC falls in the priority list of KCR, the Chief Minister has many times expressed his impatience over the lacunae in the GHMC and the way of its functioning, according to a senior elected representative of the TRS.
Though his son – Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao has some interest in addressing the problems of Hyderabadis, KCR has no interest in looking at the problems in the city nor he is interested in Hyderabad politics.
Following torrential rains in Hyderabad damaging roads, flooding buildings in low-lying areas, the Chief Minister convened a high-level meeting and issued directions to senior officials. The senior leader say that KCR is much more concerned about districts than Hyderabad.
When the rains lashed north Telangana districts, KCR flew to the district within no time and cracked a whip against the contractor after the under-construction weir got washed away and immediately called for tenders cancelling the part of ongoing contract of the dam works. This reflects his interest and concern on the districts.
KCR believes that his political stronghold lies in the districts and especially in north Telangana. He also believes that people in cities like Hyderabad are insensible to the system.
He is vexed with the way corruption heaped in the government departments and the GHMC. KCR had once openly remarked that every one in the system should be punished if at all an action has to be taken for irregularities surfacing up in the municipal body.
Meanwhile, the TRS leader suspected that the ongoing anger against the encroaches and constructions on drain lines (nalas) will live no longer live, it may subdue anytime.
