HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath has issued a stern warning to builders in Telangana who are constructing buildings illegally on government lands. Speaking on the completion of HYDRA’s 100-day milestone, he outlined the agency’s achievements and future plans.
Commissioner Ranganath made it clear that strict action would be taken against builders who obtain permissions using false information, change survey numbers illegally, or encroach on lakes and government lands. The Commissioner emphasized that the responsibility of clearing debris after HYDRA’s demolition drives lies with the respective builders, and those who fail to comply will face consequences. He noted that while some builders have started clearing debris, others continue to show negligence despite receiving notices.
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) has completed its first 100 days of operation. During this period, Commissioner Ranganath clarified several points about the agency’s mission. He emphasized that HYDRA will not demolish buildings with valid government permissions, and debris removal contracts are awarded only through proper tender processes. The Commissioner also dismissed claims about iron rod removal from Errakunta Lake’s FTL as false. He assured that the agency is actively working to solve traffic and flood water problems in the city.
HYDRA has announced ambitious plans for city development, with a major focus on lake restoration. The agency plans to transform about 100 lakes in the city through comprehensive rehabilitation efforts. These lakes will be developed as tourist spots using CSR funds and HMDA resources, following Bangalore’s successful lake restoration model.
In terms of urban infrastructure, HYDRA is implementing a comprehensive approach to city development. The agency is focusing on road safety improvements and urban greenery protection. This includes addressing hazardous trees and implementing scientific tree pruning methods. When necessary, trees affecting traffic flow will be relocated rather than removed, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to environmental preservation.
Commissioner Ranganath concluded by addressing concerns about misinformation campaigns. He reaffirmed that HYDRA remains committed to following government objectives while ensuring sustainable urban development. The agency’s approach balances development needs with environmental protection, aiming to create a more livable and sustainable Hyderabad.
