The Telangana High Court took serious objection to the manner in which the KCR government is playing a ‘numbers game’ with the lives of RTC employees. The angry remarks were made after RTC Incharge Managing Director Sunil Sarma told the court that the government need not pay any arrears to the RTC. Already, all dues are paid. But the court said it is not correct for a senior IAS officer to give wrong figures.
The Court asked how can the government show loan concessions given for buying new buses as repayment of dues to the RTC. IAS officers are creating this confusion instead of solving the crisis. Sunil Sarma said that loan concession amounts were used to buy diesel and pay salaries.
The High Court asked the government officials whether this was how they intend to submit reports to the court. The judges asked officials how the GHMC could pay Rs. 108 cr to RTC when it has a deficit budget of Rs. 556 cr during 2015-’16. The court reminded Sarma that the TRS Minister himself said in the Assembly that dues were to be given to the RTC.
