It’s a rather slow learning process for IAS officers to adjust to the new style of governance introduced by CM Jaganmohan Reddy. In the beginning, Jagan won their praise for the wrong reason. Because he called them very endearingly as ‘Anna’, which was unconventional. But as days pass by, the top officials are seeing a very tough adamant person inside the CM. He will listen but he will not agree. He understands but he doesn’t want to change. Then where is the scope for IAS officers to use their vast knowledge and experience to advise and guide the state in a positive direction?
Still, some IAS officers in Amaravati have picked up courage and tried to convince Jagan. All their efforts have only yielded negative results. Now, the situation is that even senior IAS officers are not venturing to give their advice to Jagan. The latest instance is that an IAS officer plainly told Jagan that it would not be possible to force industries to give 75 per cent jobs. It’s even more impossible in Special Economic Zones. But Jagan bluntly told the officer to simply implement what he promised to the voters. CM just reminded him of his promise on 75 per cent jobs to locals during his marathon Padayatra. No further advice given by senior officials, the Cabinet approved the bill on jobs to locals and it will be passed as an Act in the Assembly soon.
