Hyderabad: Taking a cue from the latest public meeting for BCs organised by ruling TDP, the opposition party YSRCP seems to be following the suit. YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday met with BC leaders from his party at Lotus Pond here. According to the party sources, YSRCP has decided to hold ‘BC Garjana’ in third week of February.
‘Jai Ho BC,’ the successful public meeting for backward classes (BCs) held at Rajamahendravaram on Sunday reiterated the commitment of TDP towards welfare of BCs. Considering the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, YSRCP has turned keen on attracting BC voters.
The opposition party is likely to announce several attractive sops for BCs to counter the assurances made by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Six months ago, YSRCP already appointed a BC committee to study the problems of BCs and suggest possible solutions to address them. The BC committee is touring the state interacting with several sections of the society.
Towards this, YS Jaganmohan Reddy discussed on the poll strategies to lure BC voters. YSRCP BC leaders Botcha Satyanarayana, Pilli Subash Chandra Bose, Jogi Ramesh, Parthasarathi, Janga Krishnamurthy, Perni Nani and other BC leaders participated in the meeting.
the opposition party has also decided to highlight the false promises being made by Chandrababu Naidu for BCs.
YSRCP leaders said that TDP has not even spent Rs15,000 crore for welfare of BCs as against the promised amount of Rs50,000crore. “Chandrababu Naidu has promised SC status to washer men and barbers, but failed to fulfill this. The TDP government is also diluting the fee reimbursement scheme for BC students. We’ll highlight all the false promises to BCs,” said a spokesperson at YSRCP.
