Andhra Pradesh has been requesting increasing in Assembly constituencies. The section 26 of the A.P. Reorganisation Act has provisions to increase the number of Assembly constituencies. If the buzz is to be believed, the file concerning the delimitation of constituencies has reached the PMO and the revelation is anticipated to be out soon. The demarcation is likely to increase the number of Assembly seats from 175 to 225. So, additional 50MLAs will enter the assembly. East Godavari which has largest number of constituencies in the state now, will additionally get 7 news seats in the demarcation thus increasing it to 26. The districts of Guntur and Krishna will have 22 and 20 seats respectively. Vishakapatnam and West Godavari will get 19 assembly seats.
In the Rayalyaseema region, Kurnool, Anantapur and Chittoor with the demarcation will get 4 new constituencies thus increasing the count to 18 constituencies per district.
