Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh laid foundation stone for Indian Navy’s Very Low Frequency (VLF) Station in Vikarabad district in Telangana on Tuesday. The second VLF station of Indian Navy is considered as very crucial for securing India’s maritime interests.
Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh after laying the foundation stone, explained the necessity and importance of VLF Station. He also allayed the fears of local people on the occasion.
“Effective communication is very important for national safety. Today Indian Navy has large number of ships and robust infrastructure and equipments. But besides equipments and trained Navy personnel, an effective communication is also very necessary. Therefore we have been focusing deeply on strengthening our communication network. The VLF Station in Vikarabad district will go a long way in strengthening the information and communication capabilities of Indian Navy,” said India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
“This VLF station will help ships travelling in Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Indian Navy. It will greatly help Indian Navy by supporting our Navy personnel stationed in the seas. ‘A good Navy is not a provocation to war It is a surest guarantee of peace’. Therefore India has been making all efforts to make our Navy as strong as possible. The responsibility of maintaining peace in the Indo Pacific region is on India and we have always been committed to it,: further said Rajnath Singh, explaining the importance of VLF radar station to be constructed in Vikarabad district.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, a senior leader with immense public life experience, also allayed the fears of local people.
“I got to know that some local people are worried about environment destruction because of VLF Station. I’m assuring them that Government is taking all efforts to protect environment in the region. VLF station has got all environmental clearances. Besides maintaining ecological balance, Navy’s VLF Station will serve as growth pole, by offering new livelihood and growth opportunities for local people,” assured Rajnath Singh.
Indian Navy’s VLF radar station, Vikarabad, will be operational by 2027.
