Filmmaker Indraganti Mohana Krishna, who is awaiting the release of ‘Sammohanam’, says actor Sudheer Babu wasn’t the initial choice for the romantic drama. The actor plays a children’s book illustrator in the film which will open in cinemas next Friday. “I thought of Vijay Deverakonda for the project to begin with, but after ‘Arjun Reddy’ released, he got into a different league altogether. I considered Nani too for a while but felt he was too popular for the part. I didn’t want a star to be paired alongside another star (Aditi Rao Hydari). So I started looking for other options which is when I saw ‘Samanthakamani’. I liked Sudheer’s performance in a sequence where he speaks of his mother. Add to that, for his personality he has a soft voice, which is what my part required. I approached him pronto and he agreed. Luckily, he lost a few kilos by then,” Indraganti said speaking to telugu360.com.
He further added that Sudheer made a great pair with Aditi Rao, who is making her Telugu debut with the film. “There are a couple of scenes—one before the intermission and one on a terrace—which will stand out. I can boldly say Telugu cinema hasn’t witnessed such scenes till now. I may sound arrogant but it’s true,” he added.
