At last, the CID police arrested the vice chairman of the Agrigold and the key person of Agrigold scam Avva Seetharama Rao. CID has been searching for his whereabouts and finally arrested him in Delhi. He was arrested last Monday and taken to Vijayawada on Tuesday. The CID claimed that it was very hard to catch him as there was no clue about his whereabouts. Anyway he got arrested. But there have been lot of inside stories coming out now, on how some CID officials themselves helped him and tried to save Seetharama Rao from this case.
In 2016, Agrigold chairman Avva Venkata Rama Rao was allegedly cheated about 40 lakh depositors and Rama Rao was arrested by police. Venkata Rama Rao’s brother Sitaramarao was also supposed to be arrested but he applied for anticipatory bail. Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal argued in favor of him. However, the court denied bail to him. From then onwards he went into incognito and the CID started searching. But the two senior senior officers of the same CID started helping Sita Rama Rao. It is surprising to see these two officers knew where he was, yet these two misled CID and in fact saved him until now. Why these two officers helped Sita Rama Rao. Insider story is this.
As per the inside story, one of those two officers got a five acres farm house near Chevella as ‘a gift’ from Sita Rama Rao. Another officer seems to be trying to take advantage from auction of Agrigold properties. Actually, a person named Vishwanatha Naidu from Chittoor district purchased the property in AgriGold land auction. He bought it legally during the acution but police officers have to “release it”. But one North Indian police officer who has been promoted to Additional DG from IG is demanding 2 crores from Vishwanatha Naidu to release it. It seems this officer is good friend of Sita Rama Rao. But Vishwanath Naidu took the matter to the notice of a senior officer and he took it to the notice of CM and reportedly Chief Minister has scolded the officer and asked him to release the property to Vishwanatha Naidu asap.
These are the inside stories discussed hot in IPS circles, of late.
