Vizag: The encounter carried out by elite anti-naxal force, Grey Hounds on Andhra-Odisha border needed serious autopsy. In what is said to be the “biggest encounter” in this history of Andhra Pradesh police department, 24 Maoists, including 11 women, have been killed during the midnight raid on Monday. Before coming into terms, the forces attacked the rebels again on Tuesday morning killing three of them.
The Maoists, who were gathered to plan a plenary of People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), were surrounded by the Grey Hounds from one side and Odisha police on the other side and fire indiscriminately around 1.am during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
Though, the forces first asked the Maoists to surrender, the firing took place when they tried to escape, claimed the AP top cop. The left party leaders alleged that it is a “deliberate murder”. Whatever be the claims, the encounter is needed serious autopsy. The members of naxal outfits were not getting any help from the Girijans in the jungle as they used to get before.
Apparently, the peoples’ organisations believe that there is serious plot behind the attack. It seems that the encounter is carried out to clear the line for the investors who are keeping a constant eye to plunder bauxite minerals in the jungle. There is a big plan hatched to gun down the Maos who are guarding the forest.
Maoist leader of Andhra Odisha Border (AOB) Gajarla Ravi was targeted by the AP police ever since he was gathering support of people to fight against the government’s mining policy.
In the massive encounter in 2008, total of 38 Grey Hound commandos were ambushed by the rebels near hydro-electric project in Balimela when they were returning from three-day combing operation.
Since then, the forces waiting for their turn to take revenge. As part of the plan, the police were successful in meeting the families of naxals in the name of welfare and development. Somehow, they succeeded in convincing the Maoists’ supporters and families to join mainstream society.
