It is now clear that CM Jaganmohan Reddy has himself told Prime Minister Modi that there is no need for Central funds for Amaravati Capital City any more. An inquiry is going on into the alleged massive irregularities. After the inquiry is over, the new government will take a final stand on Amaravati. Till then, no plea will be made to the Centre for the remaining Rs. 1,000 cr financial support. The Centre already released Rs. 1,500 Cr during TDP regime.
Even YCP leaders and senior IAS officials are surprised at Jagan’s stand. Usually, a state government tries to get Central funds wherever possible. How those funds are finally used is another issue. But it is being considered a thoughtless act on the part of Jagan to tell none other than Prime Minister that AP Government does not need funds for Capital construction.
Jagan’s action has left BJP national level leaders surprised and perplexed. For the Modi government, which wants to see India as a global power, the progress and development of states is also very important. BJP top leaders are not liking the way AP state is moving towards a dead-end. Is Jagan having an alternative plan for Amaravati? As of now, no proposals are made by Jagan Circar on how to take Capital City forward. It is adding to fears and rumors that Jagan Circar’s ultimate goal is to declare Amaravati area as unsuitable for Capital City as it will destroy eco system near Krishna river. It is everybody’s guess where YCP leaders would like AP Capital to be shifted if that situation arises.
