The episode of IAS officers cadre allocation raised a serious issue, which everyone is overlooking. The reluctance of IAS officers to shift to AP from Telangana, revealed how the ‘powerful and rich’ are seeing Andhra Pradesh state as a ‘step child’.
When bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh occured in 2014, almost all the powerful personalities and institutions openly expressed their displeasure to move to AP from Telangana. IAS officers, IPS officers, influential members of Judiciary, industrialists, movie industry biggies and even politicians have openly expressed their displeasure over moving to AP from Telangana.
The reluctance of ‘powerful’ towards AP initially can be accepted as they might have feared lack of facilities and opportunities then. But showing same aversion even after 10 years of state’s journey is clearly unacceptable.
Why are the ‘powerful’ and ‘rich’ treating Andhra Pradesh as a stepchild? Aren’t they concerned about Andhra Pradesh people?
Not just IAS and IPS officers, even top politicians from AP are more inclined towards Hyderabad in Telangana than their own state.
Though CM Chandrababu Naidu is staying in Amaravati right now, his love for Hyderabad is an open secret. When in Opposition, Chandrababu Naidu and his family members used to stay most of the time in Hyderabad.
The same is the case with Opposition leader and former CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy. YS Jagan had made it a point to build a home for himself in Hyderabad with his Lotus Pond residence. But he has not repeated such a feat in Amaravati. Moreover he also has a liking towards Bengaluru more than Amaravati.
The third powerful leader from AP, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s own house is also located in Hyderabad and his family stays here in Telangana capital. Pawan Kalyan is yet to build a home for his family in AP.
Even senior leaders from AP like former Vice president Venkaiah Naidu, KVP Ramchandar Rao and others have all settled in Hyderabad and have no interest to look towards AP.
It is individual’s choice to decide where he wants to stay or where he want to own a home. But these people are not ordinary individuals and are prominent figures in Andhra Pradesh. They have built their careers and earned their bread and butter from AP people. Inpsite, they have never though of atleast constructing a home in AP, leave about settling there.
Even famous Telugu movie personalities like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna and others and movie studios like Annapurna, Ramanaidu, Sarathi have also never made any attempts to create an address in Andhra Pradesh.
Taking a cue from politicians and celebrities, even top industrialists and professionals from AP have completely given a miss to AP and its people’s aspirations. Can’t these mighty powerful and rich guys, set up their offices or homes in AP, atleast to send a message to AP people and respect their sentiments? AP’s rich and mighty need to introspect!
