At the time of general election, Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam ignored the then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in the name of Election Code. He played a crucial role in demotivating the TDP contesting candidates. Now, LV is receiving similar shock treatment from the AP Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Expectedly, LV’s existence is now being questioned in AP Secretariat. This is more so after CM Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash issued an order changing the business rules of Secretariat administration. This order gives powers to CM Principal Secretary to himself respond on CM’s orders to issue notices to any IAS officer including Special Chief Secretaries. Officials circles saw this as a direct attack on the powers of CS. Rumour in Secretariat is that all this would not have happened without the approval of CM Jagan himself.
Badly hurt and very angry, LV waited for sometime for clarification from CMO. He has raised this issue before CM as well but Jagan simply ignored it. Now, LV Subrahmanyam took the bold step of issuing show cause notice to CM’s Principal Secretary which is a rarest of rare case. Even senior IAS officers are stunned at the standoff between CS and CMO. Analysts say that the incident is certainly a big embarrassment to LV Subrahmanyam rather than Praveen Prakash.
