Superstar Mahesh Babu and ace director Sukumar were supposed to reunite this year for a big budget entertainer to be bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers. When Mahesh himself said he is looking forward to working with the Rangasthalam director, it seemed like the launch of this highly anticipated project is just a matter of time. It is expected that the film will start rolling in Summer. Quite surprisingly, the project is now put on the back burner due to script issues. Reports suggested that Mahesh is not fully satisfied with the final draft narrated by Sukumar. So, he has put the project on hold.
Sukumar has been desperately trying to team up with Mahesh Babu and make amends for his previous debacle 1 Nenokkadine. Sukumar initially penned a period script for Mahesh but it got rejected with no second thoughts. Sukumar and his team of writers went back to the drawing board and came up with a full length commercial drama set in a different backdrop. Mahesh liked the idea and asked Sukumar to come up with a bound script to take a final call. But, the Rangasthalam director failed to convince Mahesh with final version.
Usually, successful directors who score big hits find it very easy to convince star heroes for their next films. But, Mahesh Babu didn’t get carried away by the success of Sukumar’s last film Rangasthalam. He demanded bound script from Sukumar before signing the project. Buzz is that Mahesh is not blindly trusting star directors these days. He is looking for watertight scripts and doesn’t want to repeat his past mistakes. As he previously bagged an embarrassing debacle with 1 Nennokadine, Mahesh is very cautious about collaborating with Sukumar again. Isn’t he once bitten twice shy ?
