Nara Brahmani, daughter-in-law of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and granddaughter of NT Ramarao, the founder of TDP, today addressed her first press conference in Hyderabad, and surprised all. Though it was not directly related to the politics of party, it is seen as internship for full entry into the party by 2019. She addressed the press conference on behalf of the NTR Trust to announce a new program the Trust initiated for the benefit of the students from the poorer sections, who want to write the competitive examinations, but can’t afford to take the coaching from private institutes. In all probability, She will be Naidu’s missile to counter Purandeswari, daughter of NT Ramarao and her aunt.
Purandewari, as the in charge of BJP woman wing, of late has been in the forefront of Naidu-bashing. She is dubbed as the leader of Gang of Four by TDP, the other members of the group being Kanna Lakshminarayana, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Somu Virraju.” Naidu might be thinking to counter Purandeswari by deploying another direct descendant of NTR. As the daughter of NTR’s son Balakrishna, she alone can equally lay claim over the political legacy of NT Ramarao, like Purandeswari,” said TDP sources. They said the NTR Trust was the gateway to politics. Even Balakrishna also used the Trust before initiating himself into direct politics.
Today Brahmani’s maiden press conference is throwback to the way Nara Lokesh, her husband, entered politics . Insiders say, before entering the TDP , Lokesh also used to address the media on the activities of NTR Trust. Later, he was drafted to party work to look after the welfare of the families of those TDP workers who died while serving the party. “Brahmani is following the footsteps of Lokesh,” the sources said.
In the press conference, Brahmani said the trust would impart coaching for students appearing for the competitive examinations in various groups like Group-I and Group-II ” As the cost Rs 50,000 which the private institutions charge is beyond the means of these students, the trust is launching a pilot project in a decent atmosphere with trained teachers,” she said and hoped that it would succeed. She advised the students to avail the opportunity and benefit. She said the purview of the free coaching would be expanded in future.
” The NTR model school has been launched in 2005 to help the wards of the party workers who died while working for the party. So far about 800 students have benefited from the school. Later a Junior College has also been started. We have plans to launch similar colleges in Krishna and Warangal districts. We also have plans to provide improved education from KG to PG to all,” she said.
Stating that a skill development centre had been started this year, Brahmani said the Trust had also help them get placement in various companies after completion of the six-week training.
The granddaughter of NTR said the NTR Trust was started by her father-in-law Chandrababu Naidu to realize the dreams of her grandfather N T Ramarao, who believed that the people were real God.
Later, NTR Trust COO Mohan Rao said in the first phase about 60 students would be selected from conducting a screening test in Hyderabad, Warangal , Nizambad, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam and Jedcherla for Telangana. ” First a preliminary screening test will be conducted and later an essay type examination will be conducted for the students who got through the preliminary test. After main examination, 60 meritorious student will be picked up for the coaching,” he said and added that the coaching would be given in English medium in the Trust’s skill development centre. The Papers English language, Reasoning and General Knowledge, required to crack the Group-I and Group-II exams, would be covered in the coaching, he said.
