IT wing on jayalalitha health, IT wing on Amma health rumours
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is confined to bed in Apollo hospital for past 24 days. By keeping Jaya’s health condition secret, the Tamil Nadu government has, of late, created an atmosphere for doubts and rumours on her health which eventuality caused fear among the supporters and her fans. Some images and write ups went viral in social networking sites as some claimed that Jayalalithaa is no more.
Now the government is readying up for cracking whip against the rumours in facebook, twitter and WhatsApp. As part of the AIDMK government has set up an IT desk to secure information on such news reports going viral in social networking sites. According to the information given by IT desk, the police registered cases against the false news reports posted by the netizen. Now this IT desk is working 24×7 in shifts basis. It is learnt that the Tamil Nadu police booked 50 people for posting such baseless reports. The AIDMK leaders warned that stern action will be taken against those who spread news without checking credibility against ‘Amma’.
An official working with Cyber Crime wing said that some NRI of Tamil origin are spreading such posts which has no truth in it. Any posts, which has no authenticity, uploaded in social networking sites will be dealt seriously, the officials warned.
There might not have room for such imbroglio, had the government taken steps in divulging the details of Amma’s health in the first week of her admission in Apollo. Although, there was report that the Chief Minister gradually recuperating, it did not give any relief to the partymen or her supporters. Two of the party functionaries tried a vain bid to commit suicide recently.
