Put a question to any filmmaker – Which is the most preferred season to release a Telugu film ? The quick answer will be Summer, because that is the time when majority of the multiplexes and single screens are awash with moviegoers. The sweltering weather force people to take some time off from their busy life and give a shot at the films that are running in the nearest cinema hall. Filmmakers want to cash in on the craze among the audience and rake in huge revenues during this season.
As like every year, a slew of films are gearing up to offer respite for audience this Summer. In the next three months, nearly 30-35 films are likely to hit the screens. With most of the films on the verge of completing their shoot, filmmakers are now looking for a possible date to release their films. Already few biggies like Oopiri, Sardar Gabbar Singh, Sarrainodu and Brahmotsavam have locked their release dates to avoid clashes among them. The pre release business for these 4 films is stunning with the overall figure touching 250 Crores. Also, a couple of Tamil biggies – Rajinikanth’s Kabali and Suriya’s 24 are gearing up to show strength at the Tollywood box office.
Tollywood has had solid start till now in 2016. Most of the films which released in the first two months fared beyond expectations and notched up stunning figures in all areas. Nagarjuna’s Soggade Chinni Nayana and NTR’s Nannaku Prematho share major part of the revenue collected till now. Nenu Shailaja , Express Raja and Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha also registered decent figures. So, it would be interesting to see if the success graph continues to hold the line during this Summer.
With summer in the offing, the big budget filmmakers are sketching out grand plans to release their films in majority of screens so that the opening week collections will be solid. On the other side, medium and small budget filmmakers are hoping that their films will have a decent screen count and don’t clash with the biggies.
