Senior actress Sumalatha is well known to Telugu audience. Her roles in movies like Khaidi, Swayam Krushi and Shubha lekha are still remembered by Telugu audience. It is known news that her husband Kannada rebel star Ambareesh recently passed away. He was Congress leader and even served as minister in Karnataka. After the death of Ambareesh, people from Mandya constituency, where Ambareesh had strong clout, have been asking Sumalatha to contest from Mandya Constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls. Sumalatha also gave a statement recently that “If Congress Contests From Mandya, I’ll be Party Candidate”. There is soft corner on Sumalatha and her family in this constituency. But there have been rumors that the seat may go to JDS as part of Congress-JDS alliance.
Now enter Nikhil Gowda, son of Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy Gowda. He is known to Telugu audience as hero of the movie “Jaguar” that was penned by Rajamauli’s father Vijayendra Prasad. He is now eyeing politics and specifically Mandya constituency. He is touring in Karnataka and telling the cadre that he will be contesting from Mandya. JDS leaders also saying that they will retain Mandya seat for their party even if alliance is forged between JDS and Congress. Nikhil wants to enter politics now when his father is CM of the state.
With both Sumalatha and Nilhil adamant on the same seat, Mandya politics became interesting now. We will have to wait and see who will get the ticket – Sumalatha or Nikhi.
