Andhra Pradesh government today notified that Pushkarams to Krishna River will commence on sunrise of 12.08.2016 and continue for 12 days up to sunset of 23-08-2016.

This notification has been issued following the opinion of Sri Tangirala Venkata Krishna Poorna Siddhanti, the Asthana Siddhanti of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, Tirupati.

The Siddhanti has advised the government on fixing the exact onset of Pushkarams to River Krishna. As per his opinion Brishaspati, the Deva Guru (Jupiter) will enter Kanya Raasi at 21:22 hours on 11.08.2016. As this time is after sunset, the official onset of Pushkarams will be at sunrise on 12.08.2016 which happens to be Sravana Shukla Navami, Sukravaram and the pushkarams will continue for 12 days i.e., till sunset of 23.08.2016. The Commissioner, Endowments Department has requested the Government to issue orders on the dates of commencement and closure of Krishna Pushkarams, 2016. 2. Government after careful examination of the matter have decided to declare that the Pushkarams to the Krishna River will commence from 12.08.2016 at sunrise and continue for 12 days up to sunset of 23.08.2016.

The state government has constituted at State Level committee to plan various works to be taken up and also the general arrangements to be made for the Pushkarams to the Krishna River . The committee is headed by chief secretary. It has secretaries and senior officials from various department as members.
