Leader of opposition in Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that the speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao behaved like a TDP MLA and colluded with chief minister Chandrababu Naidu in shielding the defector-MLAs from being disqualified.
Addressing media to brief about the floor performance of the party in the just concluded budget session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Jagan said it was for the first time, as far as his knowledge goes, that a speaker trampled upon every rule of the house and the provisions of constitution.” The speaker violated the rules of House. The speaker violated the constitutional position of the presiding officer and the speaker even dishonored the high court ruling,” he said.
He wondered as to what extent the speaker went to thwart the efforts of opposition party to discipline its members who crossed over to the ruling side.
Jagan appears to have been terribly upset by the attempts of speaker’s office to make the whip issued by the party ineffective. ” Normally, when a no-confidence motion notion is served on speaker, the opposition party should be given enough time to inform all the members and to ensure the whip issued reached everyone. But, here speaker decides to take up the matter in an hour or two as if he was in a tearing hurry,” Jagan said.
The opposition leader expressed satisfaction over the performance of the party during the session.
“We have done our job well by highlighting all the people’s issues while the State Government skirted important issues. Government has got fully exposed during no confidence motions against the Chandrababu Naidu government and Speaker Sivaprasada Rao. Both bypassed all rules and conventions to shield the defectors from being disqualified. It clearly indicates that the TDP has no courage to face the people on defections,’ Jagan said.
Talking contents of CAG Report, he said, the findings of CAG had vindicated his stand on the corrupt practices of the TDP government.
“During the budget session we have highlighted all the irregularities- rampant corruption in sand mining, insider-trading in lands near capital, favoring high cost power in lieu of cheap power from Indian power exchange,” Jagan said.
” He breached the vote of secrecy and allowed his favoured few access to classified information with regard to the capital location so that they buy lands in the peripheries of the capital city while keeping public in dark. The prior knowledge of capital location has helped his men to acquire land in large extent,” he said..
