Blaming the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should be held responsibility for the Nellore fire cracker blast, the Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today accused that the TDP government has failed to learn lessons from past mistakes as the mishaps at firecracker godowns have become frequent. He has demanded Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to the family members of the deceased.
Jagan who called on the cracker blast victims convalescing at the Narayana Hospital in Nellore, said six persons had died and as many as 10 persons suffered 80 per cent burns in the fire cracker blast on December 31.
Stating that this was the third fire cracker mishap in the state in recent times, he deplored that the government kept silent though there are many illegal fire cracker making units. He blamed Chandrababu Naidu for not visiting the families or the hospital though he was just 100 km away which shows his concern.
Though all those who died in the mishap are tribals, the YSRCP deplored that Chandrababu Naidu has failed to release ITDA funds which has forced them to take up menial jobs with risk. Though specific guidelines were set for the safety in fire cracker units they were not being monitored properly which led to the mishap and the state should own responsibility for it, he added..
He also lamented that Chandrababu Naidu has failed to set up Tribal Advisory Committee as majority of the tribal MLAs belong to YSR Congress and there is not platform to raise such issues. He demanded that Tribal Advisory Committee should be set up immediately and the exgratia should be paid on priority basis.
