The YCP government has refused to renew the agreement with the Indigo company for viability gap funding to run flights between Vijayawada and Singapore. The previous agreement ended in June. With this, these flights stood cancelled. It has triggered speculation that this is part of CM Jaganmohan Reddy’s plans to cut all links with Singapore companies. Thus, he is bent on erasing the Chandrababu Naidu mark from Amaravati capital city project altogether.
Till now, Jagan has not spoken a single word on his plans for future development of Amaravati. He kept silent despite conflicting rumours that he may change designs and that he may also stop all construction activities there further. There is no talk of building a global capital city anymore as that is hallmark of Naidu style administration.
With cancellation of flights now, there is speculation that Jagan will also cancel the agreements with the Singapore Consortium for developing a Start-up city in Amaravati. Over 1691 acres were to be given to the Singapore companies to develop and create jobs. Naidu visualised it for future bonding between the two cities but Jagan has altogether different plans.
