Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused that Chandrababu Naidu brought drought along with him and farmers are undergoing hardships as the loan waiver scheme has not yet been fulfilled and fresh loans are not forthcoming.
Continuing his Raithu Bharosa Yatra in Kurnool district for the fourth day, the YSRCP chief said that ever since Chandrababu Naidu took over, farmers are in distress especially with the anti-people polices of the state and the severe drought conditions which were unattended by the state government.
While addressing a public meeting in Lingapuram village today, he said that while bankers have fixed Rs 24,000 crores and Rs 9,800 crores as target for crop and term loans respectively, they could only disburse Rs 4,900 crores; as many farmers had turned defaulters believing Chandrababu Naidu’s promise of loan waiver to farmers and DWACRA groups.
He deplored that farmers had to forgo the onion crop as they were not getting Minimum Support Price (MSP). Not just onion but the same is the case with chilies, tomato and paddy. Kurnool rice has been very famous but farmers are under duress due to the indifference of the State Government and also the local paddy is not even fetching Rs 1,250, he added.
While the input cost has increased manifold, no single crop is getting MSP. Ironically Chandrababu Naidu claims that the growth rate of the state is more than that of the nation. To end such a barbaric rule, he said that people should join hands and fight for justice.
