Slowly but surely, the AP Government is realising that the district reorganisation is a hornet’s nest that it has inadvertently stirred. Silently, without much ado, it is making changes to the notification that it has issued with regard to the reorganisation of the districts.
According to the latest changes, four mandals in Guntur district have been under the Narasaraopet revenue division. The mandals are Pedakurapadu,Amaravati, Krosuru and Atchempet. With this, the complexion of Guntur district has been changed. The people of these four mandals have been demanding that they be included in Narasaraopet.
Similarly, bowing to public demand, the AP government has included the four mandals in the Dharmavaram revenue division into Puttaparthi revenue division. Now, the Dharmavaram revenue division has been abolished. This again was done to placate the angry public from these four mandals. Similarly, the Ropicherla mandal in Chittoor district has now been merged with the Chittoor revenue division due to public demand.
Also, the government has issued a notification saying that the Kadiri revenue division would be continued in Anantapur district. In all these places, there has been large-scale discontent over the way the new districts were carved out. Observers say that though done silently, this could spur more discontented people to intensify their agitations.
