Amaravati capital city issue is becoming a big headache for Jaganmohan Reddy. He is not promising to continue capital in Amaravati but TDP is making it a political issue. TDP Rajya Sabha MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar demanded that the YSR Congress Party explain to the AP voters why it has not made any mention of the Amaravati capital city in its election manifesto.
He accused YCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy of not having any commitment to Amaravati and the YCP leader had no awareness on how to plan and mobilise funds for a world class capital city.
The Chandrababu Naidu government went ahead to construct Amaravati by generating resources from within the state and now works worth Rs. 39,000 crore are taking place in the capital. The BJP government at the Centre just gave Rs. 1,500 cr only though the AP Reorganization Act clearly mentioned the necessity for the Centre to fund the AP capital city construction.
Mr Ravindra Kumar recalled how the national level leaders promised to help in creating a Delhi-like capital for Andhra Pradesh when they unjustly separated AP without any capital city of its own. He deplored that the Modi government has also done injustice to AP in respect of funds to the Polavaram lifeline project as well.
