Telugu Desam party today leveled a serious charge against Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The ruling party alleged that he influenced Telangana CM KCR and got contracts awarded to his MPs.
If true this would damage the image of YSR Congress irreparably in the eyes of the public. Truth gets revealed only when there is a clash of interests in the contemporary politics. Though proving an allegation conclusively is difficult because of convergence of interests at some unknown point, the whole drama would help people become aware of what politics is.
According to TDP senior leader Dhulipala Narendra and executive secretary Gurajala Malyadri a contract worth Rs 7000 has been awarded to YSRC Rajampet MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy. What is most curious aspect of the contract is, it is related to the works on the two controversial projects Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi. These are the very projects against which Jagan is launching three-day Jaaladeeksha from May 16 at Kurnool. The main demands of Jagan are that Naidu should fight with Telangana government and get them stalled, and centre should intervene to stop the projects.
The TDP has leveled the charges against this backdrop. The TDP leaders alleged that on one side Jagan speaks against these projects, on the other he mediates between his contractor-MPs and the Telangana government. The other MP in question is Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy from Khammam, who crossed over to TRS last week.
TDP has been expressing doubts over the genuineness of the YSRC defections into TRS. TDP leaders allege they were friendly defections and Jagan himself had encouraged them to join TRS in order to safeguard his interests in Hyderabad.
It may be recalled here, fifteen years back, when TDP was fighting against the proposal to increase the height of Almatti dam by Karnataka, there rumor was circulated that the contractors of the project were TDP supporters. While politician wear too many hats, they always take care that business is not affected by political rivalry.
Let’s wait for the reaction from the Opposition party.
