CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy made sensational statements in the AP Assembly on the fate of Amaravati. He said that there is a need for Andhra Pradesh to have 3 capital cities for its overall, integrated development. CM said that the Legislative Assembly and Council can continue in Amaravati. This will be Legislative Capital. Visakhapatnam will be Executive Capital with Secretariat and heads of departments. Kurnool may become the Judicial Capital of AP with High Court. Jagan Reddy said that South Africa has three capital cities.
Jagan told the Assembly that his government is committed to the decentralisation of development in the state rather than singular focus on one place. It is evident that Jagan is referring to Chandrababu Naidu’s total focus on Amaravati. CM Jagan said that the GN Rao Experts Committee report will come out in a week’s time. CM said that his government would take a final decision soon on the three capitals issue.
