The Jaganmohan Reddy government is now on a hunt to catch the culprit behind the leak of the Cabinet note on the proposed crackdown on the media in Andhra Pradesh. Fingers of suspicion are being pointed at four to five ministers and IAS officers. CM Jagan is very determined to give deterrent punishment in this issue.
Jagan’s embarrassment is understandable because the national media started targetting his regime for the first time which brought irreversible bad name. In just a few days, a strong message went across against AP’ alleged attempts to cripple and control the media. The national newspapers responded angrily and published full length articles against Jagan Circar. All this happened though AP Government did not take a final decision. Jagan just told his Cabinet about empowering the heads of the respective government departments to take action against the media for publishing baseless articles. A Cabinet note was prepared. Some insider leaked this. Within a few hours, the social media went wild with negative reports against the government. This was followed by the national media. Comparisons were drawn how a similar Cabinet note was brought by YSR Regime which was forced to withdraw immediately because of severe backlash from the media.
Now, Jagan’s media advisors are blaming the leaking insiders instead of guiding the CM properly on the sensitive nature of the media freedom.
