Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy made a serious and controversial remark about the politicians and their wives. While emphasizing the need to have character and credibility, Jagan said ,”if you have no character, even your wife doesn’t follow you.” Jagan addressed a public meeting in Nellore, organized in connection with Anam Vijayakumar Reddy’s joining the YSRC. The meeting apparently organized to send across a message to Telugu Desam Party and defector-MLAs that the YSRC would not get weakened by “chief minister Naidu’s promotion of defection”. In this connection, Jagan talked on need for politicians to cultivate character and credibility.
” Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is resorting to dirty politics. He is wooing the MLAs with the dirty money he earned through corruption. When you are in politics, you should be a role model for people. All those who are in politics, need to cultivate these two things, Character and credibility. If you rare lacking in these two qualities, even your wife doesn’t follow you,” Jagan said.
The opposition leader stated that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had neither character nor credibility. “Chandrababu Naidu has no character, so he back-stabbed his own father- in-law. As for credibility- his credibility is, telling many things before elections, and cheating people by backing on all these assurances,” Jagan said.
“When Chadrababu is himself lacking in character and credibility, we can’t expect them from the sold-out MLAs,” he said. Stating that his real strength was people and God, Jagan said while Chandrababu Naidu believes in ‘purchased leaders’, he had belief in the strength of people and God. “Chandrababu Naidu, instead of concentrating on the defection, should better work to improve the administration in the state,” Jagan advised.
