The Sivaramakrishnan Committee, which was set up to study and suggest AP Capital, recommended that High Court be located in Visakhapatnam and a HC bench in Kurnool at that time. Now, the Jaganmohan Reddy government is doing exactly the reverse of this recommendation as per rumours going on. Now, plans are to set up HC in Kurnool and its bench in Vizag. The Sivaramakrishnan Committee is the one that YCP is referring to every time it wants to blame the TDP on the ‘wrong selection of flood-prone Amaravati as capital’.
Delhi political circles are full of rumours that during his last visit to national capital, CM Jagan told Union Home Minister Amit Shah that in AP, the heads of various departments would be from Amaravati to distribute them all over the 13 districts. Expectedly, the Director of Mines Department will be having Kadapa as his headquarters. And, mining is the mainstay of the YSR family since Grandpa Raja Reddy days.
Jagan reportedly told Shah that the decentralisation of administration would be given top priority in Andhra. There is no clue how Shah responded to this. Jagan’s mission is obvious. He is hell bent on reversing what Chandrababu Naidu did. The so-called decentralisation strategy is clearly to kill the global city dream that Naidu has for Amaravati. Jagan’s plan also goes against the spirit of promises made by the national leaders at the time of AP reorganisation that a big city matching with Delhi and Bangalore would be constructed for Andhra.
