Mahesh babu for Jallikattu

Tamil Nadu’s traditional bull taming festival JalliKattu is now one of the most hot topics which is widely discussed across the country. Protests have erupted all over the state to revoke the ban on the popular sport and encourage the tradition and culture of Tamil speaking people. Infuriated over the apex court’s ban, large sections of Tamilians are staging protests in various parts of the state from the past three days. Day by day, the mass movement is gaining huge momentum with support from all avenues. Film stars and politicians have expressed their unanimous support to the protesters.
Surely, the JalliKattu issue has transcended the boundaries. Many prominent personalities from Telugu states too voiced their support to these mass protests. The latest one to jump on the JalliKattu bandwagon is Superstar Prince Mahesh Babu.
Usually a reticent Mahesh Babu, who keeps himself away from responding on sensitive issues, came in support for Jalli Kattu. Yes, it is a surprise to everyone. Yesterday night, Mahesh came up with back to back tweets panegyrising the Tamilians united fight against the ban on the traditional sport.

Mahesh’s support to JalliKattu is now inviting dual reactions. While Tamilians are holding him in high esteem for expressing support, people of Telugu states are not happy with his pandering. Here is the reason – When Telugu states were bifurcated, no star hero had the audacity to speak out on the issue or to lend support for the protest in either states. Even for the fight towards special status of Andhra Pradesh, no big star from the tinsel town came in support to the people against the government.
So, such a quick reaction on JalliKattu issue from Mahesh Babu is drawing negative reactions from Telugu speaking people. Many are questioning why our stars had no guts to speak about the burning issues in our states.
No doubt, JalliKattu is a burning issue at present. But is it really necessary for someone like Mahesh Babu to respond on the issue at this juncture. Is he looking to exploit the JalliKattu issue to improve his market in Tamil by responding positively ? May be .
It is a known fact that Mahesh Babu is currently working for a Telugu – Tamil bilingual film. He is aiming to increase his market from a long time. So, it looks like he is getting his pitch ready in Tamil market to score big with his upcoming films.
