The NTR – Mohan Lal starrer Janatha Garage has opened to packed houses yesterday in both the Telugu states and overseas. Despite a weekday and a non festival season, NTR’s box office stamina remains unquestionable as the film plundered solid figures in majority of the areas it released. The sluggish narration and a few shortcomings in the film’s plot have been compensated by the intense performances of the star cast and the powerful scenes before and after the interval.
According to the latest trade reports, Janatha Garage has created history by beating the day 1 collections of Baahubali in some areas. In areas like Krishna, Guntur, Vizag and East, Janatha Garage has effortlessly surpassed the day 1 collections of Baahubali and emerged as the top grossing film. In overseas, Janatha Garage has performed very strongly as it has notched up around $ 580K(Approx, correct figure will be updated soon) and stood as the third highest opener after Baahubali and Sardar. In other cities like Bangalore and Chennai, Janatha Garage opened on a strong note.
If the film manages to hold decent run in the next couple of days, chances are likely that it will create more box office records. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film features Samantha and Nitya Menon as the female leads. Devi Sri Prasad composed the tunes and Mythri Movie Makers have produced the film.
