Hyderabaed: Barely few weeks ahead of Lok Sabha elections, yesteryear heroin and former MP Jayaprada has joined BJP. Whether Jayaprada chose her old Rampur constituency is yet to be decided. However, according to reports, Jayaprada will opt for Rampur Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and will contest against old rival Azam Khan of Samajwadi Party (SP). Jayaprada on Tuesday joined BJP in the presence of BJP general secretary Bhupendra Yadav and MP Anil Baluni and other senior party leaders. Jayaprada may contest in Rampur Lok Sabha constituency, from where she won in 2004 and 2009 elections. Congress candidate Noor Bano was defeated in Rampur. UP has 80 MP seats.
Interestingly, Jayaprada was star campaigner for Samajwadi Party, but rivalry surfaced after the star-turned politician moved to the Amar Singh camp. As a result, in 2009 elections, Jayaprada faced tough competition from Azam Khan and his supporters, but managed to win the elections by 30,000 votes.
In 2009 elections, Azam Khan circulated morphed pictures of Jayaprada and circulated on social media. Jayaprada in 2018 compared Azam Kan with the character of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat movie.
BJP is actively considering Jayaprada for Rampur constituency. It’s reportedly said that Jayaprada topped the list of BJP for Lok Sabha elections. Azam Khan said that people will know what film stars will do for the society.
Jayaprada said that Azam Khan earlier said he was like her brother. But, how can any brother talks like this and use abusive words. I don’t want to listen to his hasty words, Now, people of Rampur will decide who’s what,” said Jayaprada.
