Heroine of yester years and Congress former MLA Jayasudha today joined the TDP. Chief minister Chandrababu invited her into the party by offering her the Yellow Khanduva. The movie star turned politician called on the chief minister in Vijayawada this evening along with her Husband. Talking to media after joining the party, Jayasudha said it was the God’s wish that Naidu had become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
She was all praise of Naidu and said the he was working day in and day out to develop the state. Having seen the commitment of Naidu for the development of state, she said, she convinced it was the time she also became the partner in the great work Naidu doing in Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier in the day she has arrived in Vijayawada to meet TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Jayasudha, who won from Secunderabad Assembly constituency in 2009 has become inactive following the death of YS Rajasekhar Reddy in September 2009. She did not go with YSRC of Jaganmohan Reddy. Nor did she choose to remian with Congress. It was Rajasekhar Reddy who brought her to politics before 2009 election.
But, she is joining the TDP at a time when Chandrababu Naidu is slowly withdrawing from Telangana. However, Jayasudha’s meeting with Naidu assumes significance as this is happening at a time when the party is on the lookout of suitable candidates for Rajya Sabha. There is a speculation among party circles that she may be lobbying for the RS nomination or she might be the party candidate for one of the constituencies in the city if byelections are held for the constituencies of MLAs who defected to TRS.
During his first stint as chief minister, Naidu nominated Jayaprada to Rajya Sabha. This is lending credence to the speculation that she may lobbying for a Rajya Sabha ticket. Four RS seats are falling vacant from Andhra Pradesh due to retirement of JD Seelam ,Jayaram Ramesh( both Congress), Nirmala Sitaraman (BJP) and YS Chowdary ( TDP). The TDP is sure to win three seats given its strength in Assembly. If both Nirmala Sitaraman and YS Chowdary are re-nominated, Naidu can still nominate one member from the party.
