In the backdrop of YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy’s proposed fast unto death, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is visiting New Delhi on September 11, to have high level discussion with central leaders on subject of special category status.
Even though Naidu is of the opinion that special category is not Sanjeevani of Andhra Pradesh ills, he is not able to counter the opposition YSR party in turning it into a weapon to strike at ruling party. The opposition leader Jagan is sitting on fast unto death from any day between September 15 and September 20, in Guntur, which is going to make political situation volatile in the Andhra Pradesh.
The special category status has penetrated so deep into the psyche of the people of Andhra Pradesh, even ordinary people are getting disappointed at the centre’ s TDPs inability to the get the tag to the state. Though he was scheduled to sit on fast from September 15, due to Vinayaka Chaviti festival he is rescheduling it. As Jagan’s fast unto death is likely to trigger political upheaval in the state, Naidu wants the centre to address the issue as early as possible.
During his last visit to Delhi, PM Modi instructed the officials of NITI Ayog to prepare a road map to implement the provisions incorporated in Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. Naidu is expecting that an announcement of a financial package would pacify the people from being incited by YSRCP into political struggle. On one side Naidu is planning counter-offensive from September 9 by visiting the district to educate the people of his efforts to get special status or special package.
On other side, he is trying to expedite the process in the centre.
