Hyderabad: At a time when TRS is about to merge Congress Legislature Party (CLP) with it, the High Court (HC) gave a jolt to the ruling party. Telangana High Court has further stated that the defected MLAs will have to face the law if their act is subject to violation of law. Telangana HC has refused accept urgent hearing on the petition filed by TPCC and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who requested the HC to order Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy not to act on CLP merger.
Congress party won 19 Assembly seats and 11 already announced their decision to join TRS and two more MLAs are in line. With 13 of 19 MLAs defecting to TRS, the two-thirds strength of Congress enables the defectors to merge CLP with TRS as per the law.
Expressing concerns over the ‘Operation Akarsh,’ the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Uttamkumar Reddy and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka filed a petition in Telagnana HC and requested it to act against such Operation Akarsh.
The Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice a Rajasekher Reddy will take up the hearing on the csse on June 11, 2019. The Bench has further stated that MLAs, who changed their loyalties to other political parties, will have to face the legal action if their act is subject to any violation of law till the Bench takes a decision on the CLP merger.
