Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kabali is getting ready for a grand release this 22nd. The film has done a superb pre release business in all areas and the Telugu rights have been bagged by Shanmukha films for a whopping 30 Crores. Industry circles believe that star producer Allu Aravind has backed the distribution house in this deal.
As the release day is just a week away, the film has garnered good prominence with aggressive promotions all over Tamil media. But, the low-key promotions in Telugu is raising many doubts about Kabali release among the trade circles. It is well known that Rajinikanth’s Vikrama Simha bombed at the box office and incurred huge loss(Approx 7Crores in Telugu) for its distributors. Lakshmi Ganapathi films, which distributed Vikrama Simha all over the Telugu states, demanded Rajinikanth’s wife to compensate for their loss and threatened to launch an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
Unless this issue gets sorted out, the release of Kabali in Telugu states looks impossible. Shanumka Films have taken a back step due to these concerns and are not willing to promote the film. Close sources to Allu Aravind revealed that he is in a dilemma on how to solve the financial dispute as Rajinikanth is not available to settle it.
